Entering the creative state is like entering the Vortex. Fun stuff. Time takes on a different feeling, stretching out like a long run of smoke pushing down a steel tail pipe, twirling as it goes. Poof!
Once pen is put to paper, hours become minutes; Incessant thoughts dwindle down to a single point where ink meets paper. You may be aware of soothing companions, your heartbeat, the cast of light on the desk, the hum of the air conditioner, a car driving by. Awareness of them is peripheral. The main focus is a warmth between the heart and the image at hand, and an intensity between hand and eye.
Planning continues, but is based on constant feedback from the visual cortex. Organic, lines develop in response and the brain relaxes. Worries of the day are a lifetime away.
